A Charlotte Mason Summer

This post contains affiliate links to highly recommended resources.

Summer is here (well, technically it is still Spring, but it feels like summer) and I am ready for a change of pace.  We school year round here, so it's not like summertime brings a time of throwing down our books and kicking up our feet.  So what's a girl to do?

Have a Charlotte Mason Summer!

If you are a frequent reader here, it's no secret that we are classical homeschoolers.  So why am I interested in Charlotte Mason for the summer?  Well, first of all, Charlotte Mason really was a classical educator, she just put her own unique spin on things.  The Charlotte Mason and classical models really complement each other quite well.  They both focus on living books, understanding history chronologically, and being surrounded by the good, the true, and the beautiful.  I'm excited to mesh these two styles together for this summer!

What is the Charlotte Mason Method?

I know a bit about the Charlotte Mason method, but I am no expert.  Let me go over the bit that I know:

  • Short and sweet lessons
  • Lots of outdoors time
  • A focus on nature
  • A focus on literature (and living books)
  • Copywork, Dictation, Narration

Ok, what am I missing?  Well, I'm about to find out, because the next book that we are going to be going through in our Classical Mamas Read book club is book 1 of the Charlotte Mason Homeschool Series.  I am really excited to read this book and learn more!

This week only, you can find amazing resources at a deep discount to help you with your Charlotte Mason plans for this summer and next year!

Greatest Picture Book Bracket - Round 1

This post contains affiliate links to the wonderful books that are a part of this bracket.

Alrighty friends, here we go!  It's time to vote on the first round of the Greatest Picture Book Bracket!

ANYONE can vote.  You do not have to have turned in a bracket.  For those of you who turned in a bracket, I suggest voting for the ones that you picked (well, if you want to increase your chances of winning anyways =)  If you still want to get in on the fun and have a chance to win a $35 amazon giftcard, you can still turn in a bracket, you just miss the points for the first round.

Also, you don't have to vote on every match up if you don't want.  Feel free to just name a few if that's all you have time for.
